On September 27, at the annual «Astana Media Week», Advisor to the Minister of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Rashid Suleimenov expressed his opinion at a round table on the topic «Documentary films: experience and future»
«Our national documentaries inform the audience rather than form. I'm not talking about all of them, but this is often the case. As a result, under the guise of documentaries, we have kilometer-long sheets of offscreen texts for more or less suitable video sequences. How much this can be called a documentary film is a big question. What makes our documentary film related to feature film is the presence of a thought, a certain author's message, a message encrypted in a story that has a dramatic form. The key word is encrypted, that is, woven into emotions, into experiences, into the very core of this story» said the Advisor to the Minister of Information.
